I first interviewed Anaïs Mitchell way back in 2008, when she was touring the UK to promote her third album, The Brightness, and in 2009, she recorded a very special version of 'All My Trials' for the Odetta tribute album I curated. The level of success she has gone on to achieve since then is incredible, first with Hadestown the album, then with Hadestown the Tony-winning Broadway smash hit. It's been quite a journey to follow. For The Line of Best Fit, I caught up with Anaïs over Zoom to talk about her new self-titled solo album, a return to her roots in more ways than one.
For Anaïs Mitchell, the road out of hell leads home
Anaïs Mitchell’s first album in a decade came after a return to her birthplace. She tells Alan Pedder about the reflection and nostalgia that she found leaving New York for Vermont.
